Evolutions
These artworks represent an evolution of Hannah’s unique art practise. Using her small textile paintings as a starting point, they are original artworks in their own right, allowing a celebration of colour and texture at a much larger scale.
These pieces begin by capturing the painting at an extraordinary level of detail, emphasising the natural texture of the linen canvas. The image is then deconstructed, separating it into colour channels which echo the process of traditional printing presses. Each channel is then adjusted, scaled or replaced, before being recombined into something new.
Each piece is printed on 100% linen, then hand stretched to create a large scale artwork. Returning to the process of textile painting, additional layers of colour are applied by hand — making every piece entirely unique. The finished works reward slow looking; colour and texture shifting, reverberating within the frame, completed only by the viewer's eye.
