Founded by Hannah Richardson with the intention to enrich the everyday with colour and texture, Bleed Studio combines her art practise and design background. Inspired by Japanese traditions and mid century art movements, Hannah creates unique pieces that exist somewhere between abstract art and textile craft.
Her hand created artworks become the genesis for further explorations of colour and texture that extend this sensibility beyond the constraints of the canvas. This process allows the creation of bespoke pieces adapted for various colour schemes, formats, substrates and sizes. The possible variations become endless with human intuition grounding the outcomes.
Each project begins with an original painting captured at an extraordinary level of detail, emphasising the natural texture of the linen canvas. Hannah then applies her expertise in print production to deconstruct the image into individual colour plates, echoing the process of a traditional printing press. Each plate is then scaled and refined, before being recombined into a final, original composition responding to the project framework.
What began as an exploration of textile craft traditions has evolved into a unique process, combining intuitive original paintings with technical design expertise. Hannah’s background and approach provide the perfect basis for successful collaborations.
Alongside her art practise Hannah takes a thoughtful, collaborative approach to partnering with clients.
